SOIL may be defined as a thin layer of earth’s crust which serves as a natural medium for growth of plants. It is the unconsolidated mineral matter that has been subjected to, and influenced by, genetic and environmental factors– parent material, climate, organisms and topography all acting over a period of time.
Nowadays, wheat, rice, corn, cotton, etc. The seeds of many crops that are available are not natural but are prepared in laboratories. These seeds are known as Genetically Modified or G-MT. April 3, 2014, according to a report the government filed a petition in the Supreme Court Replying prayed that her G-MT be allowed to use the seeds in the fields.
The yield on the increasing cost of cultivation is not growing. Crop prices are not rising. Debt is increasing. Ever since the floods, sometimes dry, sometimes erratic rains crop is ruined. The crop does not get compensation. Crop insurance does not help the farmers much. Farmers do not hand on the shoulder of the government. It is entirely left to the market, which it exploits.
